An Afternoon as Sherlock Holmes

There was a reason why I have been MIA from my blog over the past few weeks. Yesterday I celebrated my milestone birthday with a Sherlock Holmes themed Murder Mystery tea party. I spent a month planning the party along with preparing decorations to turn my living room into a 1938 atmosphere.
Be prepared for a lot of photos. Please note that I used some retired Stampin' Up! items in decorating this party.

The murder mystery required me to print the individual characters' scripts, put it into an envelop and seal it immediately. Rather than a boring brown envelop, I stamped it with top secret and labeled it individually with the characters' names. Each of the characters are also given a magnifying glass as a fun prop to take home.

And what fun is it without taping out the shape of a victim. Here's me posing.

It isn't a tea party without having some Moriar-Tea. I designed the tea label and wrapped it around an old tea bag can. The tea bags were also labeled accordingly.
And of course, it is always exciting to dress in character and for a chance to win a fun prize with a bag nicely decorated by yours truly! I used the World Map and the From My Heart stamp set to put together this bag.

And a tea party isn't a tea party without cupcakes! I ordered these customized Sherlock cupcakes through my friend, Cathy Wong of SweeTease Cupcakes.  It was everything I wanted and the best way to celebrate a milestone. We'll see what the next decade brings. I'll have to start brainstorming for the next milestone to find a way to top this one.

Stamp Club From My Heart

Happy Creative Wednesday!
Last Friday was my monthly Stamp Club. Our featured technique last for the night was the Chalkboard effect. Having learnt this technique, we went straight to putting it into "craftical" use and crafted this card along with another card.

We used the From My Heart stamp set and as subtle as I could be, I used the Tea Lace Paper Doilies to give a lift to the chalkboard sentiment. I'm really someone who can't relate well with lace and doilies, however, if I just sneak it in in a subtle way, it brightens up the card. How would you use doilies in your cards?

Daring the Raspberry Ripple

Another week has gone by and today is another Wednesday. I didn't craft as much as I normally do in a week. So today I am pulling out what I demonstrated in my last open house instead. For those of you who didn't come to my open house in June, this is what you missed.
I used the From My Heart stamp set and merged the stunning Raspberry Ripple and Primrose Petals in-colors  together to complete this card. I also used a Raspberry Ripple Stitch Satin Ribbon with the card.
Remember you can get a spool of this ribbon for free in September with our Back to Spool promotion!

Don't be late with my card reveals!! Come to my Holiday Soiree this week! September 20 and 21 from 7:30pm-9:30pm for a fun-filled evening of crafting, ideas, laughs and new friends!

Perfectly Preserved Thank You

Perfectly Preserved card by Ida Chan Stampin' Up VancouverThe last few weeks has been busy wrapping up the summer with friends visiting from Japan. I did however manage to sneak in crafting time when the guests were fighting off their jetlag.I just couldn't get around blogging about what I crafted.

I was invited to join a monthly swap, so this is my version for the month of September. The new Perfectly Preserved stamp set is absolutely lovely. The best part is that the small perfectly cut pears and flower were done thru the big shot using the coordinating Cannery Set Framelits.
